The geometry for calm. Why yoga postures create angles and triangles with the body?

The yoga postures hold a wisdom that goes beyond the simple movement and the benefits of them. The postures create angles and triangles with the body, and they allow the circulation and flow of energy through the chakras, which are energy centers in our bodies.

When the energy of pranaa (life force), the subtle element of our breath, flows through the entire body, it brings something far beyond physical relaxation and emotional satisfaction. When children breathe in the posture, the expansion occurs not only physically but mentally too.

At Upside Down Yoga Kids, we believe that grounding, self-confidence isn't a concept a child learns from a book or a screen. It is a physical sensation—yoga postures access important centers of energy that is built from the ground up.

Grounding: The Foundation for physical and emotional stability.

True confidence starts with being "grounded." In our practice, grounding isn't just a metaphor; it’s a physical reality. When a child masters a grounding yoga posture, they are learning to feel stable and rooted.

Our classes, even yoga mat, become a safe laboratory. When children perform postures that require balance and strength, they aren't just stretching muscles—they are moving energy and accessing proprioception. They learn that they have the power to stay upright, even when things feel wobbly. When a child feels stable in their body, they naturally become more stable in their voice and their choices.

Expansion and the "Miracle Formula"

When I created the Upside Down Yoga Kids method, I wanted to find the antidote to the "shrinking" effect of anxiety. Anxiety makes a child small; Yoga makes them expand.

By synchronizing breath with movement, our young learners engage in a form of "invigorating discipline." This expansion allows them to release stress and replace it with a sense of calm authority. We call this our "miracle formula":

Movement + Breath = Emotional Satisfaction.

Self-confidence comes from the discipline of the body and the freedom of the mind. Whether we are in the classrooms of @PresidioKnolls and @LaScuolaSF or the halls of @SFPublicLibrary, our mission remains the same: to diversify our activities and always bring something new that stimulates the "little ones."We aren't just teaching poses; we are helping the next generation of San Francisco children feel calmer, happier, and profoundly at home in their own bodies. #yogakids #enrichment #yogachildren #after schoolprogram
